Splish Splash Trip Update (*lunch coupons change)

Now that we have collected nearly all the permission slips and payments, we are ready to move ahead with our plans for the team Splish Splash trip!

A few important notes:

Due to an unexpected price change, Splish Splash is no longer able to offer us the deal for lunch coupons that we originally expected. Rather than having everyone come to the pool again to pay extra money for the now more expensive coupons, we will simply return $8 to each person on the day of the trip, including chaperones. Each person will then be responsible for purchasing their own food. As before, parents may give their children additional money for food if they feel that $8 might not be enough (which is likely the case, since the coupon deal was a special group rate, and since children may decide to eat more than once during the day). Swimmers may also bring money for souvenirs, but I would just like to mention that the gift shop will not be the primary focus of our excursion. Parents are also encouraged to give their children snacks for the bus ride there and back, as it's a pretty long ride (at least an hour and a half each way).

Despite the $8 refund, people who have not yet paid for the trip should pay the full price, not eight dollars less, and we will refund the $8 to everybody on the day of the trip - though it might seem simpler to subtract the eight dollars from the total, it actually makes it a lot more complicated for us to keep track of who still needs the $8 back and who doesn't.

In order to keep things simple, we will all be going by bus. It doesn't make sense to have people drive there separately when everyone can just fit into one vehicle.

As stated in previous emails, we are planning to meet outside Fort Hamilton High School at 8:00am and leave for the park by 8:30am. We will go through the park in separate groups, but we intend to have lunch together, and we also plan to join up with St. Sebastian's at the wave pool at some point during the day (the exact time is yet to be determined). We plan to return from the trip around 6pm.

Chaperones will soon be receiving a list of all the swimmers going on the trip, and they will be notified which group they will be chaperoning. We will do our best to put parents in the same group as at least one of their own children. We will also give chaperones a list of all the other chaperones on the trip as well as their phone numbers, so that the adults will know how to contact each other in case of an emergency.

If any more parents who have not yet contacted us about chaperoning are interested in accompanying us on the trip, let us know as soon as possible and we may be able to accommodate you. On the same note, if any other swimmers who are not yet signed up for the trip want to come, tell them to let us know as soon as they can. There are still a fair number of team members who have neither agreed nor declined to go, so they might even not be aware of the trip.
